The Serbian telecommunications services market generated revenue of around EUR 1.3 billion in 2006, up around 40 percent from 2005, according to data released by the Republic Telecommunication Agency (Ratel). This accounted for around 5.6 percent of Serbia’s GDP, up from 4.5 percent in 2005. Mobile communications services accounted for 48.68 percent of all income, fixed-line services for 34.70 percent, broadcasting for 10.05 percent, data transmission got 2.52 percent, internet for 2.15 percent and cable services for 1.89 percent. Serbia recorded 2.72 million fixed-line users in 2006, up 7.6 percent from 2.53 million in 2005; with mobile users up 20.6 percent from 5.51 million to 6.64 million; internet users up 32.8 percent from 756,700 to 1.01 million, cable users up 2.15 percent from 530,500 to 541,900, and broadband users up 200.2 percent from 40,500 to 121,600 users.
