Tele2 reportedly is interested in acquiring its own mobile operator licence. According to spokesman Remco Meestra, Tele2, which operates as a MVNO on the KPN network, considers the Dutch market lacking competition and ripe for a newcomer. Presently, the operator has around 477,000 Dutch mobile subscribers. It could acquire rights to mobile spectrum from T-Mobile, which recently acquired network operator Orange Netherlands, or from KPN, which bought rival Telfort. Tele2 CEO Henrik Ringmar, said, the company does not expect to get a reasonable price from either of the rival operators. Tele2 is eyeing the upcoming spectrum auctions in the Netherlands.

Sturdy increase in the prepaid consumers of Dutch has been seen over the past year. According the consumers they spend almost EUR 14 per month. The spending increases but the average price of prepaid promotions is dropping. T-Mobile and Vodafone are leading the market by having best prepaid customers. This gives the brief of the price of prepaid promotions in the second quarter. For the months of August 2007 to June 2008, Spending is provided for debitel, Hi, Telfort, T-Mobile, KPN and Vodafone.

Dutch mobile operator Telfort is moving into the fixed internet market. The company will offer broadband at up to 20 Mbps for EUR 19.95 per month. Line rental and unlimited calls to fixed lines can be added for an additional EUR 9.95. In line with its mobile marketing, Telfort said it’s targeting price-conscious consumers with the internet offer. Citing a survey showing that some 94 percent of Dutch consumers find internet advertising misleading, Telfort said it aims to offer a simple service at a fixed price for 12 months, with no extra conditions or costs. Telfort is a subsidiary of Dutch fixed-line incumbent KPN. Subscribers to Telfort Internet will not require a KPN fixed-line susbcription. A spokeswoman confirmed to Telecompaper that KPN intends to merge its ADSL brands Speedlinq and Tiscali under the Telfort brand as well, but that the company is currently investigating possible effects on customers and systems of both ISPs and a final decision has not been made yet.

T-Mobile Netherlands is suing KPN subsidiary Telfort over an advertising campaign. T-Mobile alleges that Telfort’s advertising campaign which compares several subscriptions from different operators is wrong. In the ads, Telfort claims one of its subscriptions is cheaper than T-Mobile’s offers. T-Mobile says Telfort is misleading customers by not including SMS or voicemail costs in its comparison. Telfort, however, says its ads compare the tariffs within a bundle and believes the ads are not misleading, a Telfort spokesperson told Telecompaper.

Telegeography writes…According to Telecompaper, Debitel Netherlands has signed a network leasing agreement with Orange enabling it to offer mobile virtual network operator (MNVO) services over Orange’s infrastructure. The pair are reported to have signed a five-year deal for network capacity. Debitel Netherlands already operates in the Dutch mobile segment through network agreements with KPN, Vodafone and Telfort , which also handle marketing, sales, customer service and billing. However, the Orange deal will be different in that for the first time, Debitel will be responsible for managing its own network infrastructure.
