18 companies have been finalised to bid for the national operator Sotelma. The government increased the price to XOF 200 billion for the incumbent operator, from XOF 80 billion.

Chinese vendor ZTE has signed a contract with Tunisie Telecom to deploy a national transmission network in Tunisia. Under the contract, ZTE will deploy infrastructure covering nearly two-thirds of the country, including all developed coastal regions. Upon completion, the network will allow incumbent Tunisie Telecom to offer transmission channels for mobile, ADSL and other services, and will establish a solid foundation for the telco’s future development.

Telecompaper reports that Tunisie Télécom (TT) has inked an agreement with Cisco for the latter to offer managed services to the operator’s enterprise customers. According to the news agency, the relationship aims to strengthen TT’s position as a provider of integrated data services and to increase marketing of its Cisco product based services.

The relationship aims to strengthen Tunisie Telecom’s position as a provider of integrated data services and to increase marketing of its Cisco product based services. The national operator will become a member of the Cisco Powered Network Programme (CPN) and Cisco Managed Services Channel Programme (MSCP). Tunisie Telecom staff will benefit from the equipment maker’s technical assistance centre. The tie-up’s wider purpose is to deliver more value-added and latest generation resources to the country’s business community.
