The Croatian Telecommunications Agency (HAT) will award a total of HRK 16.13 million for the development of the broadband infrastructure in the country. These resources have been secured from the surplus revenues HAT achieved in 2005, and the Agency will pay them out for every newly connected user to the broadband internet infrastructure in certain geographical areas. The tender and the payment of the subsidy is based on a Croatian government ruling from 2007. The tender is open for all companies or businessmen registered in Croatia for providing telecommunications services. The transmission speeds have to be at least 512 Kbps, while the service has to be activated in less than 30 days after the request. The deadline for submitting bids for the tender is 11 February, while the agency will reach a decision by 11 March.
