These bundles will make it easier for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to join the remote workforce revolution, thus providing better services and products to small business.

According to Telstra Business Group Managing Director Deena Shiff, 2010 Back to Business SME survey1 found that not only was the availability of finance a serious concern for about 70 percent of those polled, but investing in technology, including wireless broadband, featured in the growth plans of one in four.

Charles Chung, Acer computer regional Managing Director feels that expansion of 3G embedded notebooks, with their eight hour battery life, onto the Telstra Next GTM network for business customers means all-day, on-the-go computing is now in the reach of more SMEs.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: With the captured market share in mobile and data services, 3.7 percent increase in net profit and 0.3 percent fall in the revenue for 2009 has been reported by Jordan Telecom Group. The net profit of the group reached JOD 104 million and revenue JOD 400.1 million.

The subscriber base of the fixed-line, internet and data services of the group, in which France Telecom owns a 51 percent stake, rose 9.2 percent to 2.75 million as of December 2009 compared with a year before.

1% drop in the revenue from Jordan Telecom’s fixed and internet services has also been reported by the telco. However, revenue from mobile unit Orange rose 0.6 percent to JOD 181 million.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Due to sale of fixed-line operations in Norway earlier last year, 1 percent loss in the fourth-quarter sales to SEK 9.889 billion has been reported by telco Tele2.

However, the improvements at the fixed broadband activities offset by higher spending for the expansion in Russia improved the EBITDA slightly to SEK 2.188 billion from SEK 2.162 billion a year earlier.

Net profit rose to SEK 865 million from SEK 690 million, Capex declined to SEK 1.017 billion from SEK 1.328 billion, and free cash flow jumped to SEK 1.653 billion from 704 million a year earlier.
1.149 million New customers were also added by the operator last year.

Vodafone Spain launches UC package

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: A unified communications (UC) package has been launched by Vodafone Spain for business customers. Microsoft Online Services and Vodafone Office tools are the two products of the package.

Different forms of communications into an integrated, comprehensive and secure communications solution has been combined in the Microsoft Online Services web-based business applications. Calendar functions, work areas and IM features online can also be accessed by the users besides taking part taking in web and video conferences.

Voice and data services from Vodafone are also included in the UC pack , everything at a price of EUR 18 per month.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Kristian Tear, head of Western Europe and head of global customer accounts has been promoted by Sony Ericsson as a head of global sales and marketing from April 1. As the head of global sales and marketing division, Tear succeeds Anders Runevad, who will return to Ericsson.

Tear joined Sony Ericsson in 2005 from Ericsson. In Ericsson he held a number of executive management positions in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Tear’s successor in his position of head of Western Europe region and head of global customer accounts will be announced by the company in due course.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The first call was made on the 3G network of Orange Tunisia on February 4 in an event attended by government ministers and journalists. The operator’s obligation to have the network up and running within six months has been met by the official technical inauguration of the network.

The network will be commercially launched in the month of April while the pilot service will begin with employees of ISP Planet on March 18. Video telephony, mobile TV via WAP and video surveillance services will be offered by the network.

The operator also aims for its 3G network to cover 98 percent of the population by the end of 2011 and discussions are underway to secure the distribution license for the Apple iPhone in Tunisia

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: CFC’s approval has been seeked by Mexican media group Televisa to acquire a stake in the local unit of mobile operator NII Holdings. Both the companies have notified the Federal Competition Commission regarding their intention to undertake this acquisition.

The CFC has 30 days to approve or deny the acquisition.

There are 2.9 million customers and 3.6 percent mobile market share of NII Holdings operating in Latin America under the Nextel brand name, in Mexico at the end of September 2009.

Nexus One ETF lowered to $150

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Early termination fee for the Nexus One smartphone has been lowered by Google from $350 to $150. Equipment recovery fee of $350 for those who cancel their T-Mobile contracts within the first 120 days has also been instituted by Google.

However, lower fee of $150 is still in addition to the standard early termination fee of $200 charged by T-Mobile for those who cancel their contracts early.

FCC recently questioned Google, T-Mobile and the other major wireless network operators about their ETF policies.

Motorola’s Android 2.1 moves to Droid

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Official Facebook page of Motorola has been announced by the firm. The users of the Motorola Droid should expect their devices to update to Android version 2.1 at some point this week.

According to the company, the relay of the 2.1 upgrade to Droid will start to roll out this week and more information will be shared on other device upgrades later this week.

The features to be included with the update are yet not revealed by Motorola and it is also not informed when Verizon will begin to deliver the update to end users.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Internet search engines might have to pay to the Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica SA for the use of its telecommunications network.

According to Telefonica Chairman Cesar Alierta, search engines use their networks without paying them anything and internet searches from Web sites such as Google Inc., Yahoo! Inc. take up a big chunk of the bandwidth on telecoms operators’ networks.

56% share of Spain’s broadband Internet market had been occupied by Telefonica in the third quarter of the last year with about 6 million subscribers.
