Azercell’s 35.7 percent government ownership will be privatised. The deal is pending certain closing procedures. Azertel, the parent company of Azercell and a majority-controlled subsidiary of Fintur Holdings, acquired the entire stake of the republic of Azerbaijan for USD 180 million. Azertel will thereby increase its ownership in Azercell to 100 percent while Fintur’s effective ownership in Azercell remains at 51 percent. TeliaSonera’s direct and indirect ownership in Fintur is 74 percent.
