There were 13.5 million broadband subscribers in France at the end of March, up 28.9 percent versus a year earlier, according to telecommunication regulator Arcep. In the first quarter, 805,000 households and businesses subscribed to high-speed internet service. Some 2.6 million broadband users have opted for unbundled service, meaning they no longer pay a separate line rental to France Telecom. The number of unbundled subscribers rose by 445,000 in the quarter. Unbundled areas now account for 62 percent of the population. France Telecom has leased 6.55 million high-speed accesses to third party operators on the wholesale market.
