Spanish operator Jazztel has begun pilot tests of its VDSL2 network which allows faster upload and download internet speeds. Jazztel has 530 exchanges in Spain which are enabled with ADSL2+ which offer speeds of up to 50 Mbps, to customers 200-300 metres from the exchange, the case with 10 percent of customers in Spain. Customers who are 800-900 metres from the local loops, 40 percent of total loops, would receive speeds of 25 Mbps. The company said the technology also improved interference and noise. Rival Telefonica has also recently begun testing VDSL2 in Madrid.
