The government committee handling the auction of Kuwait’s third mobile operator has issued new terms for the bidding. The government has now agreed to a single-stage bid with no pre-qualification required. Foreign operators will also be allowed to participate individually without having to seek a local partner. The 26 percent stake in the new operator will be awarded to the highest bidder, and the winner must commit to holding onto the stake for at least five years. The new tender document is now available and the committee will take any questions until 21 October. Bids are due by 18 November. Previously the committee had registered 25 interested bidders, of which 14 foreign companies.
