Mobitel signs USD362 million loan deal for expansionKuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) has procured loans amounting to USD362 million to invest in expanding the infrastructure of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sudanese cellco Mobitel. MTC aims to carry out a major expansion of its Sudan network in order to expand coverage to 80% of the population by the end of 2007. Mobitel is the leading cellco by subscribers in Sudan and reported that at the end of the first quarter of 2007 it had 3.2 million customers.
