MTS launches GPRS/EDGE (Turkmenistan)MTS, via its Turkmen subsidiary Barash Communication Technologies Inc (BCTI), has announced the launch of GPRS and EDGE based services. According to Dmitry Shukov, director of the Turkmen operation GPRS services are currently available to just 300 Turkmen businesses, but will be extended to residential customers next month. Furthermore, the company claims to have applied for frequencies to develop WiMAX services.
