Orange France is negotiating with satellite operators to broadcast its own pay TV service across France, writes Les Echos. Orange, which just became a candidate for airing rights to all Football championship League One games, intends to reserve capacity on Eutelsat or SES Astra. The newspaper reports that an announcement on content and tariffs could come in the next few weeks. Orange’s satellite TV service would include its own sports and film channels, as well as other generalist DTT channels. Orange, which recently submitted bids to operate two personal moble TV channels by the end of the year, also bid for streaming mobile rights for League One games. Orange already has a small film production company, and if its film channel goes ahead, will probably want to reach deals with American majors.
