Qualcomm and TeleCommunication Systems have entered into a non-exclusive definitive agreement for Qualcomm’s Brew Locate Signature Solution. Under the agreement, Qualcomm will be able to offer a location service system that makes use of TCS’ hosted Xypoint Secure User Plane for Location (SUPL) Server to WCDMA (UMTS) operators. The service supports the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) SUPL 1.0 standard and serves as a position location server for assisted-GPS (A-GPS) devices. Qualcomm’s Brew Locate Signature Solution includes a catalogue of location-based applications, a hosted content delivery service and access to TCS’ Xypoint Location Service, a hosted location service offering. The Brew Locate Signature Solution allows operators to quickly deploy location-based services such as navigation, traffic, social networking applications and buddy-finder service applications.
