FierceMobileContent writes…News from CTIA: Sprint may not be clamoring to sign up for a broadcast mobile network, but the company is committed to its Sprint TV service. In fact, the carrier says on April 1 it will debut a revamped mobile TV offering that will offer a simpler pricing structure that is easier for the customer to understand.
John Burris, vice president of wireless data at Sprint, said the company is still bullish on video content even though the operator has not committed to a broadcast TV solution, such as Qualcomm’s MediaFLO platform. He also said Sprint wants to “own the mobile TV market” but that right now it can’t justify a broadcast model based upon existing usage. “Right now we don’t need broadcast,” Burris said in an interview with FierceMobileContent. “We are meeting our customers’ needs with 1xEV-DO.”
