Mobile operators T-Mobile and 3 UK are in talks on possible sharing of network infrastructure, the Financial Times reports citing people familiar with the talks. Analysts suggested an eventual agreement could pave the way for T-Mobile acquiring the smaller rival 3. 3’s UMTS network covers around 90 percent of the UK population, while T-Mobile claims coverage of 85 percent. Network sharing would enhance their coverage and also help lower operating costs. Vodafone and Orange have already announced plans to share infrastructure in the UK.
