www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Hutchison Telecom International has neared a subscriber base of 10 million at March’09 end, up 6.6% from in Q4’08 and up 32.7% from a year earlier on a like-for-like basis. The total doesn’t include Hong Kong operations, which the operator spun off. The operator finished Q1’09 with 9.971 million subscribers, as compared to 9.356 million at Q4’08 end. The growth was mainly seen in 3 Indonesia, which added 804,000 new subscribers in Q1 taking the total to over 5.3 million at the end of March. This helped offset a decline in the Sri Lanka and Thailand subscriber bases due to global economic recession.
