Moreover, the operator is also preparing for a launch of the Android based mobile handset, Palm Pre within next 6 months. “Over the next six months or so,” Lowell McAdam said, “you will see devices like the Palm Pre and the Cousin on our network from Palm. You will see a second-generation [BlackBerry] Storm. You will see a new device we call the Tour from BlackBerry as well. That is an upscale of any other QWERTY-based devices that we have from BlackBerry today.”
“You’ll see Motorola back into our portfolio. We feel very good about the progress that the Motorola team has made. And, yes, you’re going to see Android devices as well.” he further said.
On the other hand, Storm is likely to come in by September-October’09. The confirmations have come from both the manufacturer and Verizon Wireless, now the official dates for the release are awaited.

The BlackBerry Storm smartphone features a ‘clickable’ touch screen, HSPA network support, web browsing and push e-mail, GPS and multimedia capabilities including a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording, a media player and an expandable memory card slot. The Blackberry Storm can also be synchronised with iTunes and with the Blackberry Music Gateway, which allows users to play music through their home stereo.
AIS introduced a postpaid BlackBerry plan for THB 850 per month, a prepaid package for THB 40 per day and a roamer package for foreigners travelling to Thailand for THB 500 for three days or THB 900 for seven days. These plans are for the subscribers who use the BlackBerry Internet Service, for Enterprise Server users AIS has separate plans. AIS will sell the BlackBerry Storm for THB 29,900.

According to Cellcom’s Vice President (head of enterprise services) Farid Yunus, the company already have more than 50% of the market share of BlackBerry users, and that the trend is set to increase following its move to reduce business costs through services it provides. He further added that the corporate segment is willing to invest and expressed interest in these business services.
Meanwhile, the GM for Sabah region Mohammad Rozaidi Mohd Sharif said, the target is to add 1,000 new BlackBerry subscribers in Sabah in 2009, and they have already registered 300 new users, to date. For BlackBerry Storm, it intends to register 200-250 users out of the total target of new users this year.
