www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Swisscom, the Switzerland based mobile operator, will reportedly introduce mobile flatrate tariffs for prepaid, postpaid and business subscribers from 17 August’09. The tariffs will offer free calls, free SMS/MMS and unlimited mobile internet access within Switzerland. The prepaid version is dubbed as Natel Easy BeFree and offers unlimited calls within Switzerland for CHF 2 per day; unlimited SMS/MMS for CHF 3 per day and unlimited mobile internet use for CHF 4 per day.

The fees will be charged only when subscribers make calls, send SMS or use internet that day. The postpaid versions are Natel BeFree and Natel Business One, both cost CHF 169 per month including unlimited calls, SMSs, and MMSs within Switzerland plus mobile internet access up to 2 GB per month at HSPA/UMTS speeds. After the limit is reached, the speeds are decreased to GPRS levels until a new month begins.

Sending texts costs 5p per message and there is no charge for taking incoming calls. Calls are billed by the second, offering the best possible value.

The  new offer includes three new packages for residential subscribers namely Friend Mobile for EUR 3.57 per month (VAT included, with EUR 0.01 per minute to all national networks), Family Mobile for EUR 11.9 (EUR 0.01 per minute to all national networks plus 300 minutes to favourite numbers) and Smart Mobile (EUR 0.01 per minute to all national networks plus 800 minutes to favourite numbers) for EUR 17.85.

The additional capacity, added to more than 25 cell sites across the Buffalo-Niagara region and the Southern Tier, will help the company stay ahead of the growing demand for wireless Internet access as more of its customers switch to smartphones and adopt wireless data services such as V CAST and V CAST Music with Rhapsody, and MobileBroadband, the company’s high-speed wireless broadband network geared toward mobile professionals and business customers. Verizon Wireless launched its MobileBroadband service in Buffalo in August 2006.

“As wireless service evolves, more and more customers are discovering the benefits of wireless broadband connectivity,” said Marquett Smith, president of Verizon Wireless’ Upstate New York Region. “As more customers use our wireless data services, we need to increase our local network capacity to meet the increased demand.” This network enhancement is part of the company’s aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless’ voice and data services. The company has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. This year, the company plans to invest more than $100 million in its Upstate New York network, bringing its total network investment in the region to more than $1 billion since 2001.

The service targets postpaid business customers in Norway using Telenor’s network in Sweden and Denmark. The service is priced at NOK 15 per month, the roaming monthly plan comes with a tariff of NOK 1.29 per minute for outgoing calls (standard price outside Ring Scandinavia is NOK 2.49 per minute) and a charge of NOK 0.99 for incoming calls (standard price outside Ring Scandinavia is NOK 1.49). Other costs comprises of starting price per call of NOK 0.59. The special rates are applies in Telenor’s network in Sweden and Denmark and standard prices are applied for other networks in the Nordic region.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Telecom operator Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) has launched its mobile broadband service in New Delhi. The mobile broadband service will offer a plug-n-play device for individual and small office/home office users and router for enterprise customers.

Home users would pay Rs 3,500 initially and would have an option to select tariff plan based on usage needs, while for the business segment, the router is available at a refundable security deposit of Rs 6,999 and a one-time activation fee of Rs 1,000 (followed by monthly tariffs), TTSL reportedly said.

“The awareness and demand for wireless Internet connectivity is increasing rapidly and with laptop and PC sales showing exponential growth, there is a huge demand for wireless high-speed Internet access,” TTSL Chief Operating Officer (Delhi and NCR) and Regional Head North, Mr Vineet Bhatia said.

It is controlled through the internet via an interface secured from unauthorised access, and allows companies to set up a call processing algorithm, to set their own scenario of call processing and report call statistics.

Mobile ATS also offers recordings of telephone conversations; call management, activation of additional external numbers and e-mail addresses where the sound files with the conversations recordings are being sent.

This service enables businesses and government organisations to broadcast news, offers, promotions and other information to more than 1.7 million Oman Mobile subscribers. The service was launched in 2004. Currently, the subscribers are able to send iMass SMS randomly to either postpaid, prepaid or both categories. With the new service, customers now have the ability to narrow down their target audience and send between 5,000 and one million messages.
