Vodafone works to restore services
Vodafone Fiji Limited’s crossover from its old exchange to the new has experienced minimal disruptions, said the company’s chief finance officer Pradeep Lal.
“We had put out paid advertisements to warn of possible disruptions but as of today (yesterday), that has been minimal,” he said.
“Engineers have been working round the clock but we don’t want to speculate when it will return to normal. We have managed to resolve a number of issues that are related to the upgrade that were likely to occur.”
Mr Lal said the company continued to advise customers on what was happening and it wanted to have services brought to normal as soon as possible.
He said there were 10 to 15 engineers who were working round the clock in an effort to normalise services.
A paid advertisement at the weekend advised customers of the disruptions over the week.
Mr Lal said almost all services were back to normal following the successful move from the old exchange to the new exchange at the weekend.
He said customers were advised that at times they wouldn’t be able to access all Vodafone services.
He said this included making calls from pre-pay phones, checking account balances, topping up your talk time, sending text messages, roaming and voicemail services.
