www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The mobile users can now enjoy both incoming and outgoing calls even when they are on a flight.  International in-flight roaming service has been introduced by GO in partnership with Aeromobile.
The service will be provided to customers on certain flights operated by various leading airlines like Emirates Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Qantas Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines.

As soon as the aircraft reaches a cruising altitude, GO customers can start using their mobiles and the information will be given by in-flight staff that they can use their mobile.

For in-flight roaming, it is necessary that an aircraft is installed with a mobile phone transmitter in order to activate the service and relay calls to and from mobile phones. Calls are then routed by satellites that in turn route the calls to and from terrestial networks thus connecting the mobile calls to telecom networks on ground.

This will allow GO customers to be connected at certain times while flying with the above mentioned airlines. Though, the incoming and outgoing voice calls and SMS are available to the post-paid mobile customers, outgoing voice calls for GO mobile pre-paid customers are not as yet available. Also the service lies on the discretion of the airlines themselves and GO mobile is in no way responsible for the level of service.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Dhiraagu, the Maldives operator, has introduced the AeroMobile service for its subscribers. AeroMobile is a mobile roaming service on aircrafts enabling the subscribers to make calls or send SMS when roaming. Registration is not required for the AeroMobile service, and charges will be billed to the subscriber’s Dhiraagu mobile bill as roaming charges.
The service will also be available for MVR 46.90/minute for outgoing calls to the Maldives, MVR 83.00/minute for incoming calls from anywhere and MVR 10.54 for each SMS sent. While mobiles are still required to be switched off during take-off and landing, subscribers onboard AeroMobile equipped flights will be advised by the cabin crew when they may use their mobiles.
