Celcom introduces ‘Celcom AirCash’ (Malaysia)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Celcom Malaysia has introduced a USSD-based mobile money transfer service dubbed as Celcom AirCash. The financial services will extend gradually, beginning in August, said Celcom Chief Executive Shazalli Ramly. This service enables subscribers to transfer money to other AirCash users, to remit money, to reload airtime, and to perform basic enquiries. The limit on the account is MYR 1,500. Presently, the remittances can only be made locally and to Indonesia via mobile operator Excelcomindo Pratama (XL). XL is owned by Axiata, and remittance services will be launched to other Axiata-owned operators in the region. Future services for AirCash will comprise of international airtime reload, mobile banking, bill payments, and retail payments. Celcom is already in talks with local banks for some of the future services, Shazalli said. Celcom anticiaptes to secure 500,000 subscribers for AirCash by the end of 2009.
