www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Cell One and MTC, the competing mobile operators in Namibia are offering free calls to their subscribers from 22h00 to 06h00 everyday as long as they have a minimum N$5.00 balance.
The first one to launch the service was Cell One followed by MTC. Both the operators informed their subscribers about the offering through SMS (short message service) that its customers were eligible to get “free calls between 10pm and 6am and 100 free SMS per day” as long as they had N$5.00 minimum balance.
Both the Namibian operators are engaged in a cut throat competition where if opne of them introduces a particular campaign within a few days other one comes up with a similar plan.
In recent weeks, the competition os for the prepaid 3G Internet product, which until recently MTC had been selling at more than N$1,500 for a starter pack. Cell One, in its counter strategy, responded by introducing a similar product for N$900. But this strategy dint work for long as MTC introduced the cheapest 3G package at N$850.
