Batelco offers SimSim top-ups with double credits (Bahrain)

Batelco is offering its SimSim customers the opportunity to refill with US$13.26 or US$26.52 and double their credit.

According to Batelco, a similar offer in March proved to be so successful that it decided to make this new offer. The offer, available for a limited period only until 1 May, is available for new and existing customers.

The bonus credit is valid for ten days from the refill date and will be automatically used before the basic credit. Furthermore, the bonus credit will only be applicable to local on-net calls and SMS.

Viva Bahrain launches ManU collector’s edition top-up cards

Viva Bahrain, the official partner of Manchester United Football Club in Bahrain, has introduced its latest campaign which offers fans of the club a chance to win unique items from the club such as a t-shirt signed by the entire first team.

New prepaid top-up cards of US$13.27 are now available in all Viva outlets as well as shops all over Bahrain. Each card has a special picture of a player from Manchester United’s first team.

These cards are limited edition stock offering fans the chance to collect all 11 player cards. Customers that collect all 11 player cards will directly win an original t-shirt signed by the entire Manchester United first team.

Batelco offers BlackBerry App World (Bahrain)

Batelco has announced that BlackBerry App World is now available for its BlackBerry smartphone customers in Bahrain.

Users can now discover, download and enjoy a wide range of mobile applications for their BlackBerry smartphones in a variety of categories including entertainment, games, IM and social networking, news, weather and productivity.

The store is available for all BlackBerry smartphones with a trackball, trackpad or touch screen running BlackBerry OS (device software) 4.2 or higher. BlackBerry App World can be accessed over both Wi-Fi and mobile phone networks and automatically presents customers with the relevant catalog of applications available for their specific BlackBerry smartphone model. BlackBerry ID provides customers with device-independent user identification (ID).

It facilitates new payment options, including credit cards and integrated carrier billing, and allows customers to transfer their personal library of apps when they switch to a new BlackBerry smartphone.

 

Batelco launches retail mobile van (Bahrain)

Batelco has launched its first retail Mobile Van. The new van sporting Batelco’s red colour and brand logo offers a full range of Batelco’s products and services onboard.

A selection of mobile handsets will also be available from the shop. Additionally, customers can buy SimSim call credit, pay their bills and complete any Batelco transaction at the Mobile Van.

 

Nokia appoints Farrell as GM for Lower Gulf

Nokia has announces that appointed Tom Farrell as general manager for Nokia Lower Gulf, a region including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.

Farrell has been with Nokia for seven years in various roles, most recently leading the services sales and delivery team for Nokia’s Ovi services.

Prior to that, he worked within the Nokia marketing organization and in strategy and business development. Farrell started his career at Accenture.

Skrill postpones IPO (UK)

Skrill has reportedly pulled its planned London initial public offering, blaming poor market conditions.

According to reports, the company, which is majority owned by Bahrain-based Investcorp and competes with companies such as PayPal, had already cut the offering to US$179.71 million from an initial plan to raise US$261.40 million.

As per Skrill, it was postponing the listing because of adverse IPO market conditions. But according to sources, while there had been very little concern about the company itself, investors had very little faith in the IPO market at the moment, given the performance of recent listings.

 

Viva offers $13.2 broadband package (Bahrain)

Viva Bahrain has launched its new Broadband 5 package.

The package comes at a monthly fee of US$13.26 and offers  3GB of monthly data. Once the limit has been reached, the speed will automatically reduce.

Zain Bahrain boosts WiMax network

Zain Bahrain has migrated to the latest version of WiMax technology to offer higher speeds and enhanced broadband services.

Zain Bahrain introduced its nationwide WiMax network in 2007. According to the company, the upgraded version will offer Zain customers increased reliability and higher speeds and enable Zain Bahrain to restructure its broadband and fixed WiMax services to offer more innovative voice and data services at attractive prices.

Zain Bahrain will also be replacing old WiMax routers with new devices to support the enhanced services.

 

 

CGC gives away airline tickets with Nokia handsets (Qatar)

Consolidated Gulf Cooperation (CGC) has partnered with Qatar Airways to offer up to 15,000 Qmiles to Nokia customers.

Zain Bahrain has extended its unlimited calls offer till 1st May.

By dialing *313#, Zain customers can subscribe to the service for US$0.26 a day. After that, they will enjoy unlimited calls to any Zain number inside Bahrain whenever the call exceeds three minutes, regardless of how long the call may be. The 24×7 offer is applicable to all Zain postpaid and prepaid customers.
