Billi launches mobile services on Base network (Belgium)
Triple-play provider Billi has launched new mobile services. The company has started a year ago providing services mainly in Wallonia and now have around 12,000 customers.
The mobile offering is billed only for services used with calls at US$0.25 per minute and SMS at US$0.42 each. Billi uses the Base network for the service. The operator has also announced that it plans to launch a video-on-demand service in around six weeks and a triple-play package aimed at the Turkish community in May. This will be marketed under the name Pacha Cell, powered by Billi.
Momac develops RTL.be mobile portal (Belgium)
Momac, mobile internet platform provider has developed mobile portal RTL.be with Belgian media group RTL.
Momac has designed the RTL.be webapp, which will be exclusively run by Momac’s cloud-based mobile publishing platform mvolve.
The RTL.be mobile portal includes several microsites that feature RTL “news,” “sports,” “entertainment” and “people” content and boasts scroll menus, video, blog content, social media and email sharing tools, personalisation options and other technologically advanced features.
Vodafone Malta offers postpaid roaming add-on
Vodafone Malta is offering a new postpaid data roaming add-on available at a price of US$4.32 a day.
With this offer, users will receive 30MB on their smartphone or internet key for use on Vodafone networks in Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and the UK as well as while roaming in Austria on Mobilkom, Belgium on Belgacom, France on SFR and Switzerland on Swisscom.
Over-the-limit traffic is US$2.52 per MB on all Vodafone preferred networks. The add-on is available to those subscribed to a Smartphone plan or Liberty plan.
Ucell cuts postpaid roaming cost in Germany, Belgium (Uzbekistan)
Ucell has reduced roaming rates in Germany and Belgium. Customers will now pay 40% less to roam on E-Plus network in Germany and Base network in Belgium.
The operator also recently added MobiCom in Mongolia as a roaming partner.
KPN Group Belgium launches prepaid BlackBerry plan
KPN Group Belgium has introduced a prepaid tariff plan for BlackBerry customers. The tariff plan is set up for the customers of Base, JIM Mobile and Allo RTL.
The tariff plan comes with a price tag of US$21.43 for 30 days (up to 500 MB), the same price Base postpaid customers pay.
The tariff plan offers email services, BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), social networks and the internet. Customers also get access to BlackBerry App World, with a catalogue of over 25,000 applications specifically designed for BlackBerry smartphones.
Clients also get BlackBerry Protect, which offer wire backup and restore functions, plus the ability to locate a BlackBerry smartphone if it is lost. The operators under KPN Group Belgium offer a range of phones, including the BlackBerry Bold 9780, the BlackBerry Torch 9800, the BlackBerry Curve 3G, and the BlackBerry Curve 8520.
Geocell brings roaming discounts (Georgia)
Geocell is offering its subscribers significant discounts on GPRS, SMS and calls while roaming in the networks of operators Base (KPN Group Belgium), E-Plus (Germany), and KPN Mobile (Netherlands).
Outgoing calls are priced at US$1.59 per minute and SMS cost US$1.60 per unit. GPRS traffic is charged with US$2.13 per 1 MB (rounding 1kb).
Azercell introduces roaming discounts in Russia, Turkey, KPN (Azerbaijan)
Azercell is offering discounted roaming rates in Russia using the network of mobile operator Megafon. Calls to all networks are offered at US$1.32 per minute, SMS messages cost US$0.20, and GPRS roaming is billed at US$3.08 per 1MB.
The operator is also offering discounted roaming services in Turkey on the Turkcell network. Calls to all networks cost US$1.89 per minute, SMS US$ 0.23 and GPRS US$ 3.15 per 1MB for postpaid subscribers.
Discount rates are also available using roaming services on the networks belonging to the KPN group: Dutch operators KPN and Telfort, German operator E-Plus and Belgian operator Base. Calls to all networks cost US$1.89 per minute, SMS US$0.20 in the Netherlands and US$ 0.25 in Belgium and Germany, and GPRS at US$ 6.92 per 1MB.
Red Bull Mobile offers services in Belgium
Red Bull Mobile has introduced its services in Belgium, in collaboration with Belgian mobile operator Mobistar.
The Red Bull Mobile tariff plan offers young people unlimited calls and text messages for free with the Red Bull Mobile network for a US$13 monthly top-up.
Red Bull’s “Ticket to the World of Red Bull” also offers unlimited surfing on the Red Bull Mobile Portal and “real” access to events, sports and athletes. Red Bull has selected a number of smartphones for its launch, marketed in a pack together with a Red Bull Mobile Sim card, allowing free on-net calls and text messages free for one month.
As of 4 April, Red Bull Mobile Sim cards can be ordered free online, with a chance to win a ticket for the launch event on 6 May in Antwerp. From 26 April, Red Bull Mobile will be available in all Mobistar centers and Media Markt branches, with the national distribution following one week later.
Red Bull Mobile has already launched in Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and South Africa, with the company claiming it has a 98 percent recognition rate in the 15- 29 age category.
Option inks distribution deal with Avnet Embedded (Belgium)
Option has signed a deal with Avnet Embedded that will cover 17 European countries.
Avnet Embedded will take care of distributing Option´s portfolio of integrated wireless products and uCAN connection management software. The distribution agreement was signed with immediate effect.
Telenet launches Galaxy Tab subscription deal (Belgium)
Telenet has launched Samsung tablet PC Galaxy Tab, combined with a mobile internet product.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab costs US$423.56 compared to US$848.54 as stand-alone- with a Walk&Surf 30 for US442.49 per month.
The subscription includes 2 GB of mobile data over the 3G network of Mobistar, and one year’s free connection to Telenet hotspots. The contract must be taken for 24 months.
