It is available with high-end handsets including the Nokia N86 and the Samsung Jet. The tariff offers unlimited cross network minutes, unlimited Virgin to Virgin (mobile) calling, unlimited text messages and unlimited internet access within the UK. The ‘unlimited’ data offer is subject to a fair use policy of 1 GB per month. Unlimited texts, unlimited cross network minutes and unlimited Virgin mobile to Virgin mobile calls are subject to a fair use policy of 3,000 per month.

The handset which stood at second plance for Nokia’s S60 5th Edition smartphone, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman is on the third place, followed by the C510 Cyber-shot, also from Sony Ericsson. The fifth place is taken by the brand new Samsung Jet.

The handset’s sales are expected to reach 10 million mark by 2009-end.
Samsung S5230 Star, according to media reports, is selling a rate of more than 1 million handsets every month.

Samsung Jet launches in Korea

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Samsung Jet S800 launches in the Korean mobile market in three versions, Samsung W850, Samsung W8500 and Samsung W8550. The three handsets are the same but have different names for the carriers they’ll be available on: SK Telecom, KTF and LG Telecom.
In terms of features, the W850 / W8500 / W8550 offers slightly more than the Jet S800: DMB support, and a WVGA AMOLED display of 3.5 inches (as opposed to Jet’s 3.1 inches screen).
The other features include TouchWiz 2.0 UI, GPS, 5MP autofocus camera, Bluetooth, Media player and so on.

The three handset will be available for 800,000 KRW (about $630).

Samsung anticipates market share of 30% in Thailand

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Samsung, the mobile handset manufacturer, intends to boost its market share in the Thailand mobile market to 30%, up from 20% in 2008, Head of Telecom Marketing with Samsung Thailand, Manatase Annawat, repotedly said. Samsung further said will launch Samsung Jet in the country by June-end for THB 16,500, and expects to sell about 18,000 units in 2009.

Vodafone is also offering the handset for free on few contracts. The subscribers in order to have the handset for free of charge will have to subscribe to a 2 year contract and will have to pay £20 monthly. The 18-month agreements require £25 plans, while the 12-month ones require £40 plans.

The Samsung Jet also has the TouchWiz 2.0 user interface and supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. The device features Samsung’s Dolfin internet browser, a multi-tasking manager, FM radio and a motion recognition engine.

Samsung’s other announcements included the Omnia Pro B7320, a slab-style Windows Mobile phone with a keyboard; the Omnia Pro B7610, which has both a touch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and the Omnia Lite B7300, a touchscreen Windows Mobile phone.
