Brasil Telecom earns a revenue of US$ 1.75 Billion, up by 2.9% in Q2 (Brazil)

A net revenue of US$ 1.75Billion (BRL 2.8Billion) in the second Quater was reported by the Brasil Telecom, up by 2.9% from a year earlier. The net income rose from US$ 112.6million (BRL 179.5 million) to US$ 159.6million (BRL 254.4 million), a jump of nearly US$ 47million (BRL 74.9 million), equivalent to US$ 0.44 (BRL 0.70).EBITDA reached US$ 0.70Billion (BRL 1.13 billion), up 16.4 percent from the same period last year, the margin stood at 40.1 percent , 4.6 percentage points higher compared to the same period of 2007. BrT Movel ‘s net services revenue rose by 11 percent to US$ 265.14Million (BRL 422.5 million), with EBITDA at US$ 18.32Million (BRL 29.2 million) in the second quarter, up by 462.3 percent year-on-year. BrT Movel registered 5 million mobile subscribers at the end of the period, up by 33.1 percent from a year earlier. The number of active ADSLĀ users grew by 17.6 percent, to 1.7 million, while the number of lines in service reached 8.1 million. Brasil Telecom’s investments were estimated at US$ 509.8million (BRL 812.4 million), up by 168.5 percent versus last year, the reason being the 3G license acquisition and implementation of the new network.
