www.WirelessFederation.com/news: GLO Mobile, the Nigerian mobile operator has launched international multimedia messaging service (MMS), the first of its kind in Nigeria. The service allows subscribers to exchange MMS with their loved ones in 10 nations across the globe at the cost of N100 only.
The international MMS destinations already covered by the service include Norway, UK, Saudi Arabia, China, Pakistan, Oman, Switzerland, Portugal, Hungary, and  Liechtenstein.

Glo’s head of gateway division, Ibrahim Fadipe said the telecom giant plans to extend the international MMS destinations aggressively in the coming months.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Etisalat today announced the enhancement of its international MMS service to enable its customers to reach most of the mobile users around the world with more than 700+ international operators. Customers can now send an MMS to any destination in the world at the current international MMS charges.

Etisalat launched its MMS service in 2003, and has since been working towards continuous development of this service. In 2006, Etisalat introduced its International MMS service, enabling its customers to connect to the world. Etisalat currently has an international MMS agreement with 84 operators in 54 countries, and is working towards getting more direct agreements, whereby its customers can exchange direct MMS’s between the two countries.

The new and enhanced MMS solution will enable customers to send MMS to any destination number in the world, even for numbers whose operators who do not have a direct agreement with Etisalat. In cases where the destination number’s operator does not have a direct agreement with Etisalat, the MMS will be delivered to “Etisalat’s International MMS Portal”, that will send a free SMS notification, providing a link and a password to the destination number /receiver to view and download the MMS through web. The receiver can also reply to the sender via the Internet, for free which will be delivered back to the Etisalat customer. (more…)
