Nokia to launch C3 in Indian market

Nokia has announced the launch of  ‘Nokia C3′ in India soon. It is the foremost phone to bring a full QWERTY keyboard to the world’s most popular mobile phone platform- Series 40.

According to T S Sridhar, Regional General Manager-South, Nokia India, it is a dedicated social networking phone that enables users to view, post, comment, share locations and update their status on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter straight from the home screen.

The handset comes preloaded with Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat, camera, rich color screen and 8GB memory card.

Nokia C3 will be available in two colors, golden white and slate grey which will be priced at US$163.71.

Nokia to provide US Prepaid customers with C3 and 5230 Nuron

Nokia has decided to offer the US prepaid customers with two of its affordable devices, the Nokia C3 and the Nokia 5230 Nuron. The QWERTY-enabled C3 will be made available for the prepaid customers of AT&T while the full touch 5230 Nuron will be available for T-Mobile customers.

Both devices are in the market for a little while but now even the prepaid subscribers in the US will be able to get them. No signing contract is needed.

The Nokia C3 comes with the QWERTY-fied S40 feature phone with a 2.4″ landscape QVGA display. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support as well as a standard 3.5mm audio jack and a 2MP fixed-focus camera.

The Nokia 5230 Nuron on the other hand is a Symbian-powered full touch smartphone with 3G and Bluetooth connectivity and an inbuilt GPS receiver.

The Nokia C3 with AT&T will cost you US$80 while the 5230 Nuron is priced at US$130.

Cisco and Logitech introduces Couch-to-couch video calls (USA)

LifeSize, a part of Logitech is aiming to build a High Definition Videoconferencing platform along with industry giants Cisco and Microsoft and will soon announce products for the consumer market.

According to sources, Cisco is planning the launch of an inexpensive home tele-presence product for personal use in US market. The services will be launched in conjunction with either Comcast or Verizon’s network facilities. The subsidized prices might range from US$200-US$500.

According to ATD, the big selling point for the company is the high-definition quality which is supposed to be very good. Cisco will use this selling point to contrast it to what will be its big competitor, Internet telephony and video-calling giant Skype.

If reports are to be believed, Couch-to-couch video calls are being introduced by Cisco and Logitech as the tele-presence systems of the corporate world and will become affordable for mainstream consumers.

The two companies will not be alone in introducing family video calling to the living room this autumn, Skype’s calling service which is already available on several models of high-definition TVs sold by Panasonic and Samsung. In November, video calling will be offered by Microsoft with the launch of its Kinect motion controller for the Xbox 360 games console. The device features a camera and an array of microphones.

Blackberry 8900 Available at reasonable rates on all the networks (UK)

Blackberry 8900 a new phone from RIM which is very compact yet a stylish phone. The device features BlackBerry OS 4.6, a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus lens, GPS and Wi-Fi with UMA calling.

It’s the thinnest BlackBerry by a slim margin and is significantly more compact than the capacious Bold. The screen is bright and large as well as it is packed with a QWERTY keypad which is user friendly and easy to handle.

The phone is available on deals and that to on cheap rates. Blackberry 8900 contracts are offered on T-mobile, O2, orange and Vodafone. These are the pay monthly deals which are available with a contract of 12-24 months. The cheapest deal is offered by T-mobile at US$23.57 with a 24 month contract. With this 300 minutes and unlimited text are also offered.

Orange offer you a 24 month contract deals at US$39.29 with 500 MB Internet data as well.  O2 offers you an 18 month contract at US$31.43 in which 100 free minutes and unlimited text. Orange, O2 and Vodafone are also offering unlimited plans with these deals.

Vodafone 945: The second Android Smartphone

Vodafone has finally come up with the plan of having an Android-powered smartphone in their family of handsets. The company has now announced the Vodafone 945 which will be better off than the 845 in terms of attributes, although both handsets will still co-exist without replacing the other.

It will ship with Android 2.1 though, which is not doing well as many other new Android phones these days already come with Froyo.

Other hardware Specifications include a 3.2-inch WQVGA (240 — 400 resolution) capacitive touchscreen display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS support, a 5-megapixel camera with flash, and 300MB of internal memory that can be further augmented. The consumers don’t really like the fact that it comes in either black or silver colors as they are eyeing on some vibrant color schemes now.

AT&T to launch Samsung touchscreen phones

AT&T will be launching Samsung’s two full touchscreen phones- the Samsung Eternity II and the Samsung Flight .The Samsung Eternity II comes with a large 3.0-inch screen which helps in watching AT&T Mobile TV. For $10 a month, subscribers can watch live and time-shifted shows from leading stations such as CNN, Comedy Central, Disney and ESPN.
The handset also features three scrolling home screens, which can be customized with drag-and-drop widgets. And the users can easily access to Facebook , Twitter and Myspace.
The phone includes a 2.0-megapixel camera, music player, Bluetooth technology and turn-by-turn directions using AT&T Navigator.
AT&T unveiled the Samsung Flight 2, a budget phone with a touch screen and a slide-out keyboard. The phone is set to be launched on August 15.

LG GS290 Cookie Fresh launched

Following the announcement of its bigger brother- the GS500 Cookie Plus, LG GS290 the third Cookie has hit the market now. Though its camera resolution lacks 3G, it retains the cartoon UI and standard audio jack.

A month ago LG had announced two new Cookie handsets- the GS500 Cookie Plus and the GS290 however disclosed only the specs of the Cookie Plus. Fortunately LG set that right with the latest announcement of GS290 Cookie Fresh.

The spec sheet of the model resembles the original Cookie and while a standard 3.5mm jack is added here, the camera of the set is downgraded to 2 megapixel resolution. The rest of features are as usual. The set has a 3-inch resistive touchscreen, Bluetooth, FM radio and microSD card slot.

The LG GS290 Cookie Fresh will be made available in ten vibrant colors across the markets of Europe and Asia in the second half of this month.

Xperia X10 Features + Launch

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is the first Android phone from Sony Ericsson. The Xperia X10 sports an 8-Megapixel camera, 3G HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as a specially developed user interface that sits on top of the Google Android 2.0 OS. The Xperia X10 comes with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen and a 1GHz Qualcomm snapdragon processor.

The T-Mobile Pulse, manufactured by Huawei, has the largest Android touchscreen yet, matching the iPhone in size (3.5 inches). It has a 3.2 megapixel camera and  comes with a 2GB SD card. It also features GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The phone is available for £176 approximately, making it significantly cheaper than rival smartphones.
