Reliance Communications launches 3G services in Jharkhand (India)

Reliance Communications has launched the first 3G network in Jharkhand. In the first phase, the services will be available in 6 towns of Jharkhand including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh and Jharia. Recently, Reliance Communications had launched 3G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh.

The network is capable of offering peak speeds up to 28 Mbps.

Reliance Communications will be launching Reliance 3G services across all 13 telecom circles, where it holds 3G licenses, by end of Fiscal 2010-11. The company is aiming to offer national 3G coverage through associations with other 3G licensees in the balance 9 telecom circles during the course of next year.

Reliance Communications holds 3G licenses in the telecom circles of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, North East, Jammu & Kashmir, Orissa and Assam.

RCom launches 3G services in Kashmir (India)

Reliance Communications has launched its 3G services in the three districts of central Kashmir and promised to cover the whole Valley in the next two months.

With the launch of the service, RCom has become the first private company to launch the service in the Valley.

According to Vivek Kumar, the company’s executive for the state, the north Kashmir health resort of Gulmarg and south Kashmir tourist resort town Pahalgam would be provided the 3G services within the next one month. While providing the 3G service in the Valley, the company was strictly abiding by the directives of the central telecom ministry and also the security guidelines governing such services. Recently, the company launched 3G services in Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Mumbai.

The company executives added that with the 3G services in place, subscribers in Kashmir would have access to an Internet speed of 7.2 megabytes per second, 110 television channels, video conferencing, social networking and mobile cinema.

He concluded with the statement that Reliance Communications will lead the creation of a wire-free India through the launch of an affordable 3G service for all.

RCom launches 3G in Kashmir (India)

Reliance Communications (RCom) has launched 3G services in Kashmir.

According to the company, last year, in December, RCom launched 3G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Rajasthan.

According to RCom’s J&K Circle Head – Wireless Business, Ataul Haque, launching of 3G capabilities in Kashmir is an integral part of their Vision 2015 of creating a “Wirefree India” built upon the affordable 3G-for-all platform. In May, 2010, RCom bagged 13 key telecom circles during the 3G auction, including the key metros of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

The company also holds 3G licences in the telecom circles of Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, North East, Jammu & Kashmir, Orissa and Assam.

RCom launches 3G in four cities (India)

India’s second-biggest mobile operator, Reliance Communications has launched 3G in the country.

The company launched 3G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh. As per the company, it would cover all its 13 zones by the end of March next year.

According to the company, it was targeting a national footprint of 3G services through associations with other like minded, quality 3G licensees in the remaining nine telecoms zones during the course of next year.

Reliance Communications has always been in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations and there has been no violation of  licence conditions at any stage.

Nokia launches messaging service for Indian SMEs

Nokia has launched a messaging service in collaboration with US-based Intuit, under which small businesses can send SMS’ to their customers about their products and services.

Intended at small businesses with up to 10 employees, the GoConnect service will help companies send information on products and other details to their customers in a personalized manner.

According to Nokia India sales director Vipul Sabharwal, small businesses can deepen their relationships through targeted communication, which results in increased repeat visit from customers. This is targeted at small businesses, for example, a florist, who has a dedicated clientele and the messages sent out are more personalized.

The Intuit GoConnect service is based on a subscription model, which would be available through Nokia Priority dealers. The service will cost US$52.68 for six months (10,000 SMS’) and US$79.03 for a year (20,000 messages).

In case, the company finishes the SMS’ given to him as part of the package, he can get it recharged through various tariff plans, according to Intuit Global small business vice president and general manager Terry Hicks.

Though the service is being launched as a pilot in Delhi and Chandigarh, Nokia expects to roll out GoConnect across the country by early 2011.

BSNL to launch Mobile Banking in India

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Mobile Money Transfer Services is set to be launched by India’s state owned telco, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in participation with SBI and YES Bank on electronic platform.

Money orders could be send by the mobile subscribers electronically through text messages (SMS) with the help of this innovative plan. For this, the customers are required to go to the nearest post office and transfer the money by SMS. The receiver can collect the money by showing the unique code contained in the SMS to the post office in his locality.

The service has already been test piloted in Chandigarh and it will soon be rolled out after Reserve Bank’s approval.

Indian telco BSNL to launch money transfers and groceries on SMS

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: A mobile banking platform is proposed to be launched by Indian telco BSNL to help a mobile subscriber send money orders electronically through SMSs, encashable at all post offices in the country.

Anyone wishing to send money through the money transfer service will have to transfer the money by way of an SMS by going to his nearest post office. A lot of money could be saved as the SMS will reach on time. People having no proper address for physical delivery of the money order would also be helped by this service.

Besides, BSNL has also planned to launch a service under which a person with the help of an electronic authorization from his bank on his mobile phone will be able buy goods at the local kirana shop or any other store.

According to BSNL Board Director (Consumer Mobility) R K Agarwal, the platform had been test-piloted in Chandigarh and the state-run telecom major expects to roll out the service in association with the postal department, after getting the Reserve Bank of India’s approval.

BSNL launches new service for mobile subscribers

Chandigarh, Oct 12. (PTI): Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Wednesday launched a new service – missed call alert -for its mobile subscribers in Punjab in case they happen to be out of coverage area or their cell is switched off, a BSNL release said here.

The release said postpaid and prepaid customers can divert their calls to 17010 for activation of the service. The calling party will get the announcement that a missed call alert shall be sent and simultaneously the called party shall be informed about the missed call through an SMS.

No charges shall be levied to either party for this service, the release said.

The BSNL also introduced SMS and E-mail bill alert for landline and WiLL phone subscribers. Through this service, the subscribers can get timely information about the bill and also plug the possibility of non-receipt of telephone bills due to postal or other delay, the release said.
