LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional social network with over 60 million members globally has launched the LinkedIn application for BlackBerry. The app can be downloaded via the LinkedIn website, and on BlackBerry App World. It complements LinkedIn’s existing mobile offerings for the iPhone and Palm Pre.

The specialty of the app is its native integration with the Blackberry. Users can use it within their Blackberry’s existing email, calendar and contacts applications. They can stay connected to the professional conversation, build professional network and also prepare for a meeting by quickly accessing LinkedIN profiles even while traveling.

According to LinkedIn Vice President of Search and Platform Products, Adam Nash, with the addition of the application for BlackBerry to their broader suite of mobile applications, LinkedIn is available to more business people than any other professional network in the world. He opines that this is an important step in their strategy to deliver business productivity tools to their members wherever their work takes them.

The app is available in six languages globally including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese language.

ZTE is all set to change its low-cost handset maker image and enter into the business of higher smartphone market. Android-powered smartphones will supposedly be the next big target of this Chinese company. However, the latest venture to find its way to the market is 4ZTE phones. These phones are expected to circulate even outside China.

ZTE Smooth, the Palm Pre like device has features like Android 1.6, 2.8-inch QVGA display, QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM radio, and 3g (UMTS) connectivity. ZTE Blade is another high-end device and has features like Bluetooth, Android 1.6, WiFi, FM radio, GSM/UMTS connectivity and 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen.

ZTE Racer another Android 1.6 phone will have 3G, WiFi, GPS, and 2.-inch QVGA while ZTE Mercury, which is a look-alike of HTC Hero comes with 3.2-inch HVGA display, GPS and EDGE data.

The only problem these Android phones are expected to come across is the distribution otherwise ZTE is super committed to Android.  The ZTE Smartphones will soon be popping on every comer of Europe and US.

China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of subscribers, said on Sep 21, 2009 that it has over half a billion customers now.

China Mobile recorded a customer base of 502.936 million as of August 31, 2009, after net additions of 5.3 million during August alone. The company has gained more than 45 million subscribers since Jan 2009.

According to China Mobile,the number of 3G subscribers on China Mobile’s homegrown TD-SCDMA network reached 1.33 million in August 2009, up from just over a million in July.

Equipment spending by Chinese mobile operators is estimated to hit $41bn over the next two years.
