XL posts a rise of 12% in 1H profits (Indonesia)

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Excelcomindo Pratama (XL) has reported a rise of 12% in net profit in 1H’09. The rise is attributed to the strong growth in its pre-paid subscriber base which rose 9% from 19.9 million in the first quarter to 21.8 million as at 30 June. Communication traffic has also increased drastically to 113% while messaging traffic mounted 170%, it said. According to the press release, XL said earnings before tax, cost, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, jumped 31% from the first quarter, while net profit rose to IDR706 billion from a year ago. The telco ended June with a subscriber base of 24.7 million.
