Vodafone Czech Republic introduces ‘Additional FUP’

Vodafone Czech Republic is offering customers who exceed their monthly data limit the possibility to renew the limit for a surcharge.

The service ‘Additional FUP’ is designed for customers with the data tariffs Vodafone Internet in Mobile, Vodafone Internet in Mobile Full or Permanent Connection.

About 5% of customers exceed their monthly FUP. The service Additional FUP applies to both business and residential customers, postpaid and prepaid. The prices for Additional FUP differ according to the data tariff a customer has activated. With Vodafone Internet in Mobile, an additional FUP of 150 MB costs US$5.79, with Vodafone Internet in Mobile Full, FUP 600 MB costs US$11 and with Permanent Connection, FUP 3 GB costs US$26.

T-Mobile Czech Republic offers Lenovo IdeaPad netbook

T-Mobile Czech Republic is offering the Lenovo IdeaPad netbook and USB modems (Huawei E1750, E1823) for US$0.05. The offer applies for new activations and contract extensions of mobile voice tariffs for 24 months and one of the data tariffs Internet for Travel Standard for US$28.93 or Internet for Travel Premium for US$57.93 with a 24-month commitment.

With Internet for Travel Standard, T-Mobile offers also the USB modem Huawei E1750 and with Internet for Travel Premium the Huawei E1823, supporting HSPA+.

Vodafone removes commercial ad billboards (Czech Republic)

Vodafone Czech Republic has decided to remove advertising on billboards and other commercial media placed in the direct vicinity of motorways and other roads having a speed limit between 90 and 130 kilometres per hour.

Vodafone will stop using billboards along these roads as of the 4-10 April week as well as remove ads from all motorways from July this year. Vodafone will also initiate a discussion on TV commercial breaks without increased volume as many customers find loud ads annoying.

 

Vodafone Czech Republic to limit calls on Friends All Networks

Vodafone Czech Republic will introduce limits on calls within the tariff Friends of All Networks from  May 1.

Subscribers to this tariff will have five hours of calls available. The number of SMS, as well as unlimited calls within the tariff Friends (for on-net calls to contacts) does not change.

For customers who prefer unlimited on-net calls to selected numbers, Vodafone offers a flexible tariff, with which a customer can change selected numbers for unlimited calls. Unlimited calls to one number are activated for US$10.06. For unlimited calls to all networks, the operator recommends the unlimited Tailored Tariff, which it claims to be the cheapest in the market.

 

T-Mobile Czech Republic accelerates 3G coverage

T-Mobile Czech Republic has decided that it will cover dozens of additional cities with HSPA+ technology this spring.

It currently covers 42.5% of the population (97 cities and larger municipalities, as well as 232 smaller villages).

From  April 1, internet users can access higher data limits; Internet for Travel Standard rises to 3 GB from 2GB). Additional 1 GB amounts can be purchased for US$5.7.

Internet for Travel will be available for a one-week free trial. For a deposit of US$115.87, customers get for seven days a data SIM card with the Huawei E1823 USB modem supporting HSPA+. The deposit of US$57.93 applies for other modems rented.

 

Telefonica O2 Czech Republic slashes data roaming rates

Telefonica O2 Czech Republic has slashed its rates for data abroad and reduced the package Eurodata 250 MB.

The price decrease to US$27.65 is valid from  April 1st to September 30th. The package can be activated by new and existing customers of postpaid services. O2 lowered also basic rates.

When travelling within the EU, 1 MB costs US$1.38, which is claimed to be the most beneficial offer in the market.

In the European non-EU countries, 1 MB was reduced to US$13.82 and in other countries of the world to US$17.28.

 

 

Vodafone Czech Republic offers 3G coverage application

Vodafone Czech Republic in partnership with the server DSL.cz is offering an application with which customers can view a map with data on real speeds of mobile connection.

The application is designed for Android OS phones.

The application is available for free on the Android Market. The results of speed measurement can be shared on Facebook and Twitter. The application runs on Google Maps.

T-Mobile Czech Republic provides free communication with Japan

T-Mobile Czech Republic is offering free communication to its customers between the Czech Republic and Japan, until the end of March.

It is offering free calls and SMS, in roaming in Japan as well as outgoing calls from the Czech Republic to Japan. At the same time, T-Mobile will refund the payments made from 11 March.

 

T-Mobile Slovakia stands against mobile licence extension fee

T-Mobile Slovakia believes that the proposal for introducing a fee for the extension of mobile licences is unfair, as it would change the rules only a few months before the current GSM licences expire in August.

MPs from the party OKS has submitted the proposal as a draft amendment to the act on electronic communications. Orange Slovakia leaves the decision on charging the licence extension to the relevant state bodies.

According to company spokesman,  within the EU there is no single view on the issue. In Poland and the Czech Republic, the licences have been prolonged for free while in Hungary, the extension was charged. So far, in Slovakia all extensions were free. The relevant minister Jan Figel agreed with an extension fee, but did not reveal the amount of the charge.

 

T-Mobile Czech Republic increases the mobile payment limit

T-Mobile Czech Republic has increased the limit for mobile payments from US$40.06 to US$68.68.

According to Vit Soupal, Senior Head of Mobile Payments at T-Mobile, more than 1,000 transactions are made via this platform every day, which represents a 100% increase compared to 2010.

The website is visited daily by 5,000 users. T-Mobile has also reduced commissions to make mobile payments more accessible to vendors. M-payment, one of the Pay-by-Mobile payment methods, enables payments for products and services via the web or WAP interface of mobile phones or over the internet.

The service uses a website-based payment gateway. The payment method is suitable for selling tickets for events, insurance, software purchases via e-shops, gaming portals, etc. Payments are deducted from credit on prepaid cards or charged on the monthly invoice.
