Andrew Buys EMS Wireless

In a move designed to strengthen its presence in the base station antenna arena, Andrew Corporation has inked a deal to acquire EMS Wireless. The all-cash deal is valued at $50.5 million.

The company was attracted to EMS Wireless, which designs and manufactures base station antennas and repeaters for cellular networks, for its established relationships with key wireless operators and its ability to help Andrew expand its piece of the wireless subsystem market.

Andrew recently reorganized its organization from five distinct product groups to two operating segments. By having just two segments Wireless Network Solutions and Antenna and Cable Products Andrew says it will be better equipped to serve its target markets.

The EMS Wireless buy is expected to close within the next 60 days. Looking ahead, Andrew expects the acquisition to result in synergies of between $5 million and $10 million annually beginning in fiscal 2007.
