Bahrain Telecom’s (Batelco) CEO, Gert Rieder has declared that he is resigning from the company with immediate effect for personal reasons. Batelco Group Chief Executive Peter Kaliaropoulos will take over the CEO role until a permanent replacement can be found.
Gert Rieder joined Batelco in April 2009 to lead the Bahrain operation of the Batelco Group, as part of the Company’s restructure to manage the growing needs of the organization. Prior to joining Batelco he was Senior Advisor for ENEX Finance SA, a Private Equity company based in Switzerland.
According to Mr. Kaliaropoulos, he would like to take this opportunity to express the appreciation to Gert for his contribution and efforts to improve Batelco’s Bahrain operations over the past 18 months. The company wishes him and his family well for the future.
Mr. Kaliaropoulos stated that the search for a new Bahrain CEO is already underway but such a process may take some time. However, he looks forward to working directly again with the Bahrain Executive team until the appointment of a suitable replacement. Bahrain is the most important market in the Group Operations. Supporting employees to deliver better value and improving customers’ experience when interacting with them are fundamental priorities to the company’s long term success.
Mr. Kaliaropoulos concluded stating that there are a number of new and enhanced products and promotions in the pipeline for customers in the coming months. Batelco’s employees and management are well aware of the competitive challenges in the market. Batelco’s focus remains on improving relationship with customers and delivering value and innovation.
