Sasatel starts CDMA operation in Tanzania
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Dovetel, the Tanzanian mobile operator trading under the name Sasatel, has launched its CDMA service. Sasatel said in a statement that the roll-out of its network would be undertaken in phases. The initial roll-out covers major parts of the largest city Dar es Salaam, and the next phase of network expansion will cover the rest of Dar es Salaam and all other major cities in Tanzania.
The TCRA licenced the operator in June 2008 to offer voice and data services, internet service provision and international gateway services. The operator will operate on a CDMA network offering high speed internet and prepaid packages. The company will offer fixed-wireless phones that have internet connectivity capabilities as well as mobile phones. The company will further offer Wi-Fi routers and broadband EV-DO modems for high-speed internet access.
