XS Games announced “Red Star” for iPhone and PSPgo

The early spring 2010 will witness The Red Star for iPhone and PSPgo, announced XS Games. The mashup of top down shooter and beat ‘em up game play- the Red Star is based upon the graphic novel of the same name by Christian Gossett.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of XS Games, Steve Grossman, the Red Star is a proudly old school combination of classic action games, much in the spirit of Contra and Streets of Rage. He is also of the opinion that PSPgo and iPhone are the perfect platforms for this game in terms of controls, visuals, and price.

The Red Star is all about the dystopian United Republics of the Red Star (URRS), a mystical and technologically advanced alternate reality resembling Soviet Russia. Here an individual can choose to play as one o the graphic novel’s there most important characters. The names of the characters are Maya Antares who is regarded as a powerful sorceress in search of her husband lost in battle, Kyuzo, Maya’s personal bodyguard as well as a powerful fighter and Makita, a quick and agile warrior forced to abandon her life as a world-class athlete when her homeland was invaded.

The iPhone and PSPgp offer fresh visual polish as compared to PlayStation2.

Hungama launches ‘Don’ mobile game

Hungama Mobile and Excel Entertainment, the producers of Don, are proud to launch to mobile games on the popular movie and the first ever multiplayer online game for any Bollywood movie on www.gaminghungama.com

The game, created by Hungama Mobile was unveiled on Friday by Shah Rukh Khan in Mumbai, along with the film’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani and the Director, Farhan Akhtar. Speaking at the launch, said Shah Rukh, an avid gamer himself, I am a great fan of video games, and this Don game is just fantastic. I jumped at the very idea of this game and have already tried my hand at it… mind you, it’s just as exciting as the movie itself but only here, you get to be part of all of the action, in fact, do all the action yourself,???

Neeraj Roy, MD and CEO, Hungama Mobile, said, Our creative and gaming team visited Kuala Lumpur in May 2006 for the making of the movie. During which there were sessions with the Editor and Director to understand the flow and decide on Game Play. The team came back to India, worked on the concept and created a storyboard and later created the virtual game.???

The Mobile game is available in two versions – one is the Race and Chase game on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, with the back drop of the world famous, Petronas Towers and the other is the role-playing game. The Race and Chase, as the name suggests, gives the player a chance to outfox the Don and capture him. In the other, the player has to help Shah Rukh find the secret Disc, which he desperately seeks to prove that he is not the Don, but a victim of a serious case of mistaken identity.

Whilst mobile games have been made before for Bollywood films, this is the first time a game will be launched on the Internet and that too in a multiplayer gaming environment. The Hungama Mobile team is promoting the game with a real life multiplayer online strategy game exclusively on India’s only multi player gaming portal www.gaminghungama.com The graphics of this game have been done at the same level as the quality of special effects in the movie to give it a contemporary look and the action sequences are just as slick and stylish as the movie itself.

To download the game, sms Don to 4646, the consumers then gets the option to either download mono content or rich content. Following the instructions, the consumer needs to sms DW to 4646 to access a WAP URL and after that, the game gets downloaded on the handset with just one last click. The game is available on mobile and online as a multiplayer game. All operators in India including Hutch, Airtel, Reliance, Tata, Idea and others will provide the Don game. Besides, it will also be available across the Hungama Mobile distribution network with over 50 carriers in 20 countries.
