Mobile application development technology provider Mobile Distillery has launched the latest version of its flagship product, Celsius V6. This app aims to meet the needs of large corporations, who want to reach their customers or employees through mobile phones.

This version includes automatic porting to native code for the user interface on iPhone and Android, in addition to existing target platforms (BlackBerry, Java ME, Windows Mobile, Brew).

According to Mobile Distillery Chief Technical Officer, Razmig Sarkissian, Celsius V6 allows corporations to concentrate on their applications rather than on mobile phone complexity and fragmentation, freeing them up to develop their ‘go mobile’ strategy.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The mobile users can now enjoy both incoming and outgoing calls even when they are on a flight.  International in-flight roaming service has been introduced by GO in partnership with Aeromobile.
The service will be provided to customers on certain flights operated by various leading airlines like Emirates Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Qantas Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines.

As soon as the aircraft reaches a cruising altitude, GO customers can start using their mobiles and the information will be given by in-flight staff that they can use their mobile.

For in-flight roaming, it is necessary that an aircraft is installed with a mobile phone transmitter in order to activate the service and relay calls to and from mobile phones. Calls are then routed by satellites that in turn route the calls to and from terrestial networks thus connecting the mobile calls to telecom networks on ground.

This will allow GO customers to be connected at certain times while flying with the above mentioned airlines. Though, the incoming and outgoing voice calls and SMS are available to the post-paid mobile customers, outgoing voice calls for GO mobile pre-paid customers are not as yet available. Also the service lies on the discretion of the airlines themselves and GO mobile is in no way responsible for the level of service.

POGO has launched a world-first in mobile phone file sharing platform.

POGO, a South African based company, developed the software and is looking to benefit from the growing demand for mobile phone applications in the youth market. The application entered the market in May 2006 after several months of development and testing.

“The software application brings Internet based peer-to-peer technology to the mobile phone. This is the first commercially successful application of file sharing software in the wireless market,” said Jaysen du Plessis, managing director of POGO.

POGO allows users to share ringtones, music, games, videos and themes. The application also allows users to send messages at 1c per SMS as well as access classifieds, body weight calculator and car performance facilities.

POGO is downloadable to all GPRS and 3G mobile phones that are Java and WAP (wireless application protocol) enabled. The application is compatible with all phone types.

POGO carries a once-off download fee and is accessed by sending the POGO keyword to the shortcode 4 20 30. This premium rate service is charged at R30. POGO does not bill for any further use of the file sharing facility and users pay only for the airtime to access the Internet.

According to Jaysen du Plessis, additional content will become available as more and more users join the POGO mobile peer-to-peer community.

“We are expecting a rapid uptake of POGO as users become aware of the benefits of sharing content with their mobile phones. The youth market is particular open to innovative means for accessing new content. Their demand for mobile content will drive the uptake of POGO in the market,” said Jaysen du Plessis.
