TRA reinvites bids for wireless licence (Bahrain)

TRA, the Bahrain’s telecom regulator, has reinvited bids for the wireless licence in the country. The two bids which were recieved earlier in Dec’08 were not accepted as they were not in compliance with the terms of auction.
The following GSM guard band frequencies allows important niche services such as home delivery services, telemetry services for fleet vehicles, public utilities and wireless security to be provided.
Mr Alan Horne, TRA’s general director said: “The rejection of bids for non-compliance reasons illustrates the importance of paying attention to the details of the requirements as outlined in the invitation to tender and this should be an important lesson for any company that plans to enter this auction process.”
According to the terms of auction, the companies can submit their bids by April 23 2009 and the winner will be announced by May’09-end.
