3 Signs on for MyCast

Orb Networks has forged a deal to deliver its MyCasting service to mobile customers of Hutchinson Whampoa/3 Group.

Orb MyCasting is designed to enable users to wirelessly organize, watch and share their videos, music, photos, TV, documents and other digital media.
 
Earlier this week, Orb announced that it is adding YouTube.com and other sites to the mix. The enhanced software program expands the product’s capabilities to include the ability to search, organize and watch videos from various Internet sites, including YouTube, Google, Guba and DailyMotion, according to the company.

The MyCasting application is designed to make Web-generated content fit on a mobile phone screen by automatically transcoding the video stream into the appropriate media format, bit rate and screen resolution.

The addition of MyCasting to its lineup is part of Hutchinson’s recent X-Series from 3 launch, which is designed to leverage mobile broadband. The deal involves the delivery of a customized version of MyCasting, which is being re-branded as Orb on 3.
