MediaTek, Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company has introduced its new MT6236 platform. MT6236 targets the feature-rich multimedia market and supports high-end graphic displays; web browsing and full-finger touch functionality.

It features 5 megapixel camera, mobile TV, HVGA display, integrated Bluetooth, and full HTML browser. The MT6236 platform is pre-integrated with MediaTek’s software solution to reduce the design cycle time. MediaTelk also announced that it has opened an office in Dubai.

With the new office, MediaTek hopes to strengthen its regional connections and to grow its business by over 20% in the region.

szSprint has introduced two new phones on its network: The Sanyo Zio and Samsung Transform. Both the phones are High-end Android phones which are available on contact basis. The company has also launched Sprint ID.

Samsung Transform will be available for US$149.99 with a two-year contract and US$100 mail-in rebate. The device features a 3.5-inch HVGA display, horizontal sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel rear camera with flash, VGA front-facing camera, a 2 GB micro SD card, and Android 2.1.

The Sanyo Zio as per the company will be available for US$99.99 after a two-year contract and US$100 mail-in rebate. Zio features a 3.5-inch “high-resolution” WVGA touchscreen, 512 MB of internal memory, 3.2 megapixel camera, 30 FPS video capture, a 2 GB micro SD card, and Android 2.1.

Sprint ID, a new profile-based feature that let customer easily customize their phone with predefined groups of ringtones, wallpapers, applications, and widgets is also available now. These ID packs contain tailor-made content for groups of users including business professionals, gamers, sports fans, and many more.

Virgin Mobile will be releasing BlackBerry Bold 9780 Refresh in Canada on 21st of October.  The BlackBerry Bold 9870 will cost US$149.99 with a SuperTab, or go no contract for $549. Apparently Virgin Mobile gave the BlackBerry Bold 9700 End of Life” status but will be renewing the bold line with the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

The Device runs on the new BlackBerry 6 OS, with a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.4-inch display and a 5 megapixel camera. The device will also feature 512MB RAM, and is likely to work on the upgraded processor. The phone will also have a HVGA display, 624 MHz processor, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, an optical track pad.

ZTE is all set to change its low-cost handset maker image and enter into the business of higher smartphone market. Android-powered smartphones will supposedly be the next big target of this Chinese company. However, the latest venture to find its way to the market is 4ZTE phones. These phones are expected to circulate even outside China.

ZTE Smooth, the Palm Pre like device has features like Android 1.6, 2.8-inch QVGA display, QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM radio, and 3g (UMTS) connectivity. ZTE Blade is another high-end device and has features like Bluetooth, Android 1.6, WiFi, FM radio, GSM/UMTS connectivity and 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen.

ZTE Racer another Android 1.6 phone will have 3G, WiFi, GPS, and 2.-inch QVGA while ZTE Mercury, which is a look-alike of HTC Hero comes with 3.2-inch HVGA display, GPS and EDGE data.

The only problem these Android phones are expected to come across is the distribution otherwise ZTE is super committed to Android.  The ZTE Smartphones will soon be popping on every comer of Europe and US.
