SmarTone-vodafone to implement CPNP interconnection system by April-end (Hong Kong)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: SmarTone-Vodafone, the Hong Kong based mobile operator, by the end of April, will implement a calling party’s network pay (CPNP) policy. This is followed by Ofta, the telecoms regulator, announcing its plans to withdraw the regulatory guidance on fixed-mobile interconnection charges in favour of mobile party’s network pay (MPNP) after 26 April.
According to SmarTone-Vodafone the CPNP is the “fair and reasonable” interconnection system in which the charge is then paid by the call originating network. The operator has welcomed the end of MPNP policy with fixed operators, as with coming of CPNP, mobile operators will have a net receivable from fixed operators as the volume of fixed-to-mobile calls is larger than mobile-to-fixed calls. The telco is still in talks with fixed-line telcos on the new interconnection system.
