Reliance Communications has chosen Aicent’s MMS Gateway service to offer domestic and international Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) to all its mobile subscribers.
Aicent MMS gateway service will allow Reliance’s mobile subscribers to stay connected and share mobile content such as pictures, audio and video messages with their friends and family not only in India, but also across the world.
The Aicent MMS Gateway Service will be initiated with a one-time connection setup between Reliance’s MMSC and the Aicent MMS Gateway. The connection will be established over Reliance’s existing GRX link. Upon the completion of this set up the operator’s MMSC will be instantly interoperable with all other MMSCs connected to the Aicent MMS Gateway. Aicent currently operates one of world’s largest GRX networks with direct connections to nearly 50 operators.
Commenting on the announcement, Mahesh Prasad, President – Application Services Group, Reliance Communications said, “We are glad to offer domestic and international MMS services to cater to the fast growing popularity of data and video applications among Reliance Mobile customers. With the launch of this interconnectivity we invite all other operators to integrate and to connect with Reliance’s subscriber base.”
With MMS’ rising popularity among the mobile users, operators across the world are fast realizing the potential for additional revenue generation by offering the functionality to their subscribers. However, MMS interoperability between different operators’ MMS networks still remains a challenge for most of these operators. This is where services like Aicent MMS Gateway come into play.
