Cable&Wireless launches BlackBerry Solution for subscribers in UK

The BlackBerry solution brings together smartphones, software and services to allow Cable&Wireless customers in the UK easy wireless access to email, phone, messaging, social networking, calendar, web, multimedia and other business and lifestyle applications. Cable&Wireless customers will now be able to enjoy the freedom and productivity benefits of using BlackBerry® smartphones to stay connected to people and information on the go.

Customers can take advantage of Cable&Wireless’ FMC proposition when using a BlackBerry smartphone. This allows mobile services to be delivered over a fixed IP network – converging fixed and mobile services onto a single wireless device. Business users benefit from the ease and simplicity of a streamlined data network with one number, one voicemail and one bill. The FMC technology also lets a mobile device act as a landline when the user is inside the office, transferring traffic to the fixed voice network, and costing the same amount as a landline call. When the user is outside of the building, they seamlessly roam onto a national mobile network.

T-Mobile trials LTE in Innsbruck (Austria)

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: T-Mobile Austria, nation’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, has reportedly unveiled that it has been running a trial of long term evolution (LTE) network in Innsbruck since the beginning of July. The network is claimed to be the largest of its kind in Europe and operates across 60 cell sites which were supplied by Chinese vendor Huawei Technologies. T-Mobile explained that the focus of the trial is to gather customer experience data, as well as proving the technical performance of the hardware and software.
T-Mobile has asked the Austrian government to consider the distribution of 2.6GHz frequencies, so it can prepare to introduce the technology on a commercial basis, although such a launch is not expected until the end of 2010 at the earliest.

T-Mobile Europe to launch T-Mobile Pulse in October for €257

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: T-Mobile Europe will soon launch the Android-powered Huawei U8220 as T-Mobile Pulse, The price and release details of the phone remain undisclosed, though it is likely that the handset launches in October.

The handset has also appeared on Dutch retailer site, available for pre order at €257 (about $366) – free of contract, but locked on T-Mobile’s network.

Vodafone Passport deal to end on 31 August

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Vodafone UK, that was offering the summer cheap roaming deal, dubbed as Vodafone Passport, is soon coming to end on 31 August. The network says that over 2.5 million Vodafone Passport customers have taken advantage of the cheap roaming rates to 35 Countries across Europe, New Zealand and Australia. If you’ve got a short break planned over the bank holiday weekend, then it’s easy to activate the service.

Pay monthly subscribers just need to text “PASSPORT” to 97888, and PAYGers text the same thing to 2345. From there on, costs should be “exactly the same as they were in the UK”, and Pay Monthly subscribers can use inclusive minutes for no extra charge.

After the promotion expires, the subscribers will have to pay a 75p connection fee for each call, and texts will cost 11p. Roaming mobile internet or mobile broadband costs extra again.

Powerful cash generation in the first half of 2009 – up 16.8% year-on-year to €1.130 billion
First half revenues increased to €6.571 billion (2.2% growth in constant currency), with OIBDA up to €1.879 billion (6.2% organic growth)
Total customer base grew 8.3% year-on-year to 47.6 million

Vodafone willing to sell Apple iPhone 3GS in UK, Germany & France

Vodafone UK slashes roaming tariffs for business subscribers travelling in Europe

With Vodafone Europe receiving calls abroad is now FREE
Vodafone continues to help customers to stay in touch through a range of voice, data and email whilst abroad with a suite of services.

Vodafone UK business customers now have even more ways to reduce their roaming and international call costs with the introduction of Vodafone Europe.

By adding Vodafone Europe for £20 per person, per month, customers can make business calls and texts in 12 European countries and make International calls from the UK for 5p per minute. Sending texts costs 5p per message and there is no charge for taking incoming calls. Calls are billed by the second, offering the best possible value.
