SK Telecom considers bid for 51% stake in Kazakhtelecom (South Korea, Kazakhistan)

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: SK Telecom, the South Korean mobile operator, intends to bid for the 51% stake in Kazakhtelecom, the Kazakhistani telco. Kazakhtelecom had announced in late-June that it planned to sell its stake as a part of its asset restructuring.

Our company is considering whether to participate in the bidding,” said SK Telecom spokeswoman Lauren Kim. “We have yet to finalise a feasibility study.”
SK Telecom, which controls about half of South Korea’s mobile market, is looking at business opportunities overseas as growth has stalled in the saturated home market.
