Verizon Wireless does ‘smart’phone pricing (US)

Verizon Wireless has cut down the prices of several models of RIMM BlackBerry and smartphones from LG and Samsung according to research by Morgan Keegan’s Tavis McCourt.It is asserted that verizon is likely to finance the discounts with additional subsidies. According to McCcourt, the price cut could be a trouble for Palm, with more choices in the sub-$100 tier for the Centro.
McCourt also notes that the cuts are the latest in a long series of handset and smartphone promotions at carriers in the weeks surrounding the Apple iPhone 3G launch.”

    * Pearl 8130: Now $79, down 20.2% from $99.
    * Curve 8330: Now $99, down 33.6%, from $149.
    * Blackberry 8830: Now $149, down 25.1%, from $199.
    * LG enV: Now $79, down 20.2%, from $99.
    * LG Voyager: Now $99, down 33.6%, from $149.
    * Samsung Glyde: Now $79, down 47%, from $149.
