www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The football fans of South Africa can now have access to multimedia information on football training and techniques via their mobile. The new deal signed between South African mobile operator Cell C and Nike is aimed at creating a starter pack to give quick doze of football related information to both fans and players.

Nike Football+, a digital coaching programme aimed at players who want to improve their game would be offered as the starter pack of the Cell C Nike Football+ along with advice and instructions from top coaches and clubs like Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool or Juventus. In addition, exclusive downloads and Nike events could also be gained access by the subscribers.

Apart from this, several other offers are included like the hosting of Nike Football content on MXit, one of the biggest South African youth portals, also open to Cell C subscribers and named Cell C Locker Room.

News, audio, video, adverts from Nike, football leagues and live updates, scores and goal alerts are featured in the content. The Cell C Nike Football+ starter pack is available at the rate of ZAR 3.99 nationwide.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: O2 UK has been ranked as the fastest provider for mobile web pages in London in a survey of the UK mobile network mobile data download speeds.

In January 2010, O2 offered the fastest average web page access experience in London at 1.7 seconds, over 30% quicker than the slowest operator. Even for misc download, O2 emerged the winner by providing the fastest music download rate in 12 out of 20 UK key cities and was second place in a further four more.

Tests were conducted between 10am and 10pm Monday to Sunday in London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and Sheffield.

Tiscali UK unveils IPTV offer

Telecompaper writes…Tiscali UK has unveiled its IPTV offer. After acquiring the triple-play provider Homechoice last year, Tiscali is now opening the Homechoice TV platform to all its broadband customers. Tiscali TV is available in combination with a broadband subscription for GBP 14.99 per month, from 1 March for Homechoice customers. The service is currently available in London and Stevenage but will be available outside London in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Newcastle during April and May, and in areas of Leeds, Sheffield and Liverpool by mid-year. By the end of 2007 Tiscali TV will be available to a footprint of over 10 million UK homes. The roll out will continue through 2008, and the TV service will be available to Tiscali’s entire unbundled local loop network by the end of 2008.

The package includes 30 channels including all the free digital TV stations from the BBC, Channel 4, Five and ITV. On-demand offers include a catch-up service to watch 50 hours of BBC programming for seven days after broadcast, another 100 hours of entire series such as Doctor Who, Friends and Sex in the City and 1,000 movies costing GBP 1.99-3.49. A premium pack with another 25 channels and 1,000 hours of on-demand programming is available, while Kids and Music packs are also offered.

Tiscali TV is free to all subscribers who buy the 2 Mbps broadband product in Tiscali TV enabled areas. A triple-play package including a fixed line is also available for GBP 19.99, including free domestic calls on weekends. The company will launch a new set-top box in July 2007, with a 160Gb, high-definition enabled, personal video recorder.
