Magticom launches on-net, fixed plan (Georgia)

Magticom has introduced an offer for on-net calls as well as calls to all Georgian fixed networks for US$0.01 per minute for subscribers of its Magti, Bali, Magti Fix and Bani brands.

The monthly subscription for the service costs US$0.01 and each call has a connection fee of US$0.10.

 

Motorola signs mobile network contract with MagtiCom

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Motorola and Georgian mobile operator MagtiCom signed a contract to deliver network optimization services for the enhancement its entire 2G network performance. Intelligent optimization service will be deployed by the US vendor which in turn will help MagtiCom to deliver a high quality and cost effective service to its mobile customer base.

Less subscriber churn, easier introduction of new data services and additional voice capacity are some of the other benefits of the solution apart from improving network performance stability and reducing levels of interference and dropped calls.

A commercial GSM service was launched by MagtiCom in September 1997, over a Motorola supplied network which successfully delivered 3G optimization service to the cellco.

Argotex transfers 3G licence to MagtiCom

The 3G licence which Georgian textile company Argotex won in April 2006, with a bid of GEL19.9 million (USD9.2 million), has been transferred to cellco MagtiCom, which also purchased a 3G licence in August 2005, for GEL20.38 million. Argotex never launched services, and has only paid 30% of the licence fee. The rest will now be paid by MagtiCom, whose GSM service had around 675,000 subscribers at the end of June 2006, 44% of the domestic market.
