If reports are to be believed, Research In Motion has launched a beta version of its BlackBerry Protect service in France.
BlackBerry Protect offers assistance in locating a BlackBerry on a map via GPS and cell-tower triangulation, locking and setting a device password, activating a special loud ring to help find the phone even if it’s in silent mode, forcing an instant wireless backup of data, and securely wiping information from the phone. It also allows customers who buy a new BlackBerry to easily load parameters, contacts and diary entries from their old BlackBerry.
