Smart Mobile, Cambodian mobile operator is offering a top-up bonus of 500%. Customers that recharge their account between 23 and 28 March will get a top-up bonus of 500% which can be used for calls, messages, and GPRS data. The bonus credit is valid for 14 days.

Mobile SIM penetration in Serbia reached 130% at the end of 2010. Serbians use the mobile phone mainly for conversation and sending SMS.

Some 21.8% of internet users and social network users access online services via mobile phones. Though the market continues to be dominated by prepaid subscribers (66% of the total), but in the last three years, there has been a noticeable shift to postpaid, for more than 6% per year.

According to reports, the three main reasons users gave to go postpaid were lower prices, the ability to communicate without constraint, and the possibility to get the desired phone under favorable conditions. On the other hand, the main reasons mentioned for not switching to postpaid are better control of expenses, no tailored packages, lack of regular source of income and the impossibility to keep the number when switching the operator.

Vodafone launches infinite mobile plan

Vodafone has announced a new range of plans offering unlimited calls and messages to Australian phones for less than half the price of its nearest competition.

The company’s new plan is the ‘Infinite’. There are four prices in the Infinite range, with the more expensive plans offering a higher data allowance and includes value to spend on international calls each month.

The new plans, which will be launched on Wednesday, can be taken on either 12- or 24-month contracts, or on a month-to-month commitment, and will be available in conjunction with Vodafone’s current range of smartphones, including Apple’s iPhone 4.

As a bonus to the included calling, messaging and data inclusions, customers who choose an Infinite plan will get unlimited access to social-networking sites Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and MySpace.

Verizon Wireless is planning to market Motorola Citrus On its network. Both the companies have collaborated to release the handset. The phone is made-up to be pocket-friendly and is expected to hit the shelves in Q4 this year through Verizon Wireless communications stores and online website.

The smartphone delivers an easy-to-use on-screen QWERTY keyboard which can be utilized in landscape and portrait modes for effortless typing. The phones is an Eco-Friendly phone as it is built up of PVC and BFR free components, which offers 80% of post-consumer recycled paper packaging. It is a full HTML browser featuring Bing search and Bing maps proffers users a PC-like Web browsing experience. Social butterflies can conveniently stay connected with loved ones using its quick access to Web pages and services like Facebook, Gmail, Google Talk and YouTube.

It has been reported that Indian authorities have rejected RIM’s corporate email solution to allow scrutiny of BlackBerry traffic, opening up the possibility of a permanent ban. According to reports, Security agencies have been unable to intercept or monitor emails or messages from BlackBerry users.

Security groups were unable to convert the encrypted BlackBerry messages into a readable format using the technical solution offered.

RIM could face a ban if it doesn’t satisfy the Department of Telecom (DoT) by the October 31 deadline for providing a technical solution.

Indian mobile operators, which have been ordered to install a technical solution to enable, monitoring of BlackBerry services, have also been left in a fix.

The company has maintained that it lacks the ability to decode encrypted emails and messages sent by its users, as it does not retain the decryption keys.

Sony Ericsson has unveiled the Z610, a stylish UMTS clamshell handset. The phone features a sleek finish in black, pink or blue and a ‘magic mirror’ display on the outside of the phone, which appears hidden until displaying details on incoming calls or messages. Other features includes a 2 megapixel camera, a picture blog function for sharing photos, video calling, push e-mail and RSS feed support and 64 MB of internal memory, plus a card slot to raise memory to up to 1 GB. The handset is available in select markets from the third quarter.
