Nokia Announces New Handsets

Nokia has launched three new handsets, including the design-oriented 8600 Luna phone.

The 8600 Luna is a quad-band phone, weighing 5 ounces, with a 2-megapixel camera and, a first for Nokia, a micro-USB port. News of the Luna phone leaked in advance of Nokia’s release when Carphone Warehouse posted the phone to its Website earlier this week.

Nokia’s other new releases are the 6500 and the 6500 Slider. Both 6500s are quad-band 3G GSM handsets. The 6500 “Classic” includes an internal memory of 1 GB, a 2-megapixel camera supported by LED flash, a media player and a micro USB port. It uses the Series 40 user interface.

The 6500 Slider features a 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and an 8x digital zoom. The phone also comes with a TV-compatible socket that can connect to any television  with RCA inputs.

The Nokia 8600 Luna is expected to be available during the second quarter of 2007, while the 6500s should be available during the third quarter.
